Mardi Gras

On Tuesday Jaron's class celebrated Mardi Gras. They ate King Cake (it was cinnamon rolls that Jaron won't eat for me, but did for his teacher), made a float for their parade, and voted for Mardi Gras king and queen. Jaron was voted king and he was really excited about it, Hailey was voted queen. Josh, Jantzen and I went to his class to watch the parade. They went around to six different classes with their float that they all helped decorate (it had music playing on it) and they threw beads and doubloons to all the kids. They all had a great time. It's a good thing the kids don't know what you really have to do to get the beads. HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!

Got Snow?

I'm a little slow at posting this, but I've been feeling like crap lately so I'm having a hard time keeping up on my blogging. Anyway, we took the boys to Mt. Charleston on Valentine's Day morning to go sledding with the Watts. We haven't played in snow since we moved to Vegas from Utah 4 1/2 years ago so we didn't have much in the way of snow clothes. Luckily Ashley was more prepared than us, so we were able to borrow some stuff from her. The only thing we were missing was snow boots for Jaron. We decided to stop at Wal Mart on our way but they didn't have anything so we went to Target. The only thing Target had was some "Cars" rain boots. Oh well, they'll work, right? Jaron didn't want them but I told him he will survive and then he can give them to Jantzen. He finally agreed to wear them.

It was a beautiful day to go sledding. The sun was out and it wasn't too cold, although I don't think Jantzen would agree with me. Jaron couldn't wait to get his snow clothes on and play. He loved to play in the snow in Utah and he really misses it. First thing he did was climb the hill by our car with Caden. He would have just enjoyed doing that all day. Jantzen on the other hand was being a stinker. He was throwing a fit about the snow clothes (he's never seen snow up close let alone played in it, he's a Vegas baby). When we finally got him dressed he decided he wanted to throw snowballs at us. I think he got in a little over his head with that one.

When we were ready to go sledding Jantzen threw a fit. He didn't want to leave the parking lot. He just wanted to sit there and make snowballs. We told him he had to come with us and of course he got upset. He did eventually get over it until we got across the street.

Across the street was a dip that you had to climb down and then back up in order to get to the hills to go sledding. Josh and I helped Jantzen down it and then he started to throw another fit. He was crying that he wanted to slide down it on his tummy, but we were already across and there was people there so we couldn't. We got to listen to him crying the whole time we were walking to the hill. Of course every one was staring at us. On our way Jantzen started freaking out about the snow saying it was eating him up (there was a good foot and a half of powder). I had to laugh at his misery because what he said was funny. Finally, Josh got him calmed down by making snowballs with him.

Jaron on the other hand was having a blast! He was sledding down the hill mostly on his toosh. He couldn't get enough of the snow. I think it was even more fun for him because he was there with one of his friends. He was like the Energizer bunny, he just kept going and going and going...you get it. He even did a little snow dance for Caden.

He did finally get worn out and just plopped to the ground for a break. He didn't care that he was covered in snow. Some of it got down his Hoodie, but he still was having fun. I would love to have just a little bit of the energy that my boys have. Don't you just love the Lightning McQueen boots?

Josh got Jantzen to go down the hill a few times with Kylee. He seemed to have fun doing it, but he wanted to do it the same way Jaron was, on his tooshie. So he ventured up the hill on foot and down on his toosh, and kept doing that until he had had enough of the snow and cold. I ended up having to take Jantzen back to the car so he could warm up and eat some lunch. We hung out there until the boys were done sledding and playing.

It ended up being a fun morning/afternoon. I didn't realize how much I missed the snow, that is playing in it not driving in it. We'll do this again next year but next time we will make sure we are better prepared for the snow and hopfully Jantzen will love it better then. Say cheese Josh!

Valentine's Happenings

Last Friday Jaron had his Valentine's party at school. I was there all day to help out because the second graders were doing rotations to different classrooms to do activities in each. Jantzen got to play with Coda all day so he was pretty excited. I made sure I was well prepared in the snack department so I wouldn't pass out in front of anyone. I think it worked out well, except I could have used a few more crackers. Jaron was happy that I was at school to have lunch with him, and at the end of the day his class got to hand out their Valentine's and eat treats. I, of course, ate his cupcake. He doesn't like them very much and I love white cake. I think the kids all had a good time and it was nice for me to not be stuck in my house all day.

On Saturday (Valentine's Day) we took the boys to Mt. Charleston to go sledding and that night we decided we wanted to take them to dinner instead of going out by ourselves. We went to Olive Garden (one of our favorites) and had to wait for over an hour before we got seated. Not only were the boys complaining that they were starving, but my stomach was too! While we were waiting we had the pleasure of listening to a guy next to us talking about miscarriages and exactly what happens during it. He went into a little too much detail, especially for being at a restaurant with people around to hear (he wasn't quiet at all). Josh was about to have a little talk with him, but lucky for the guy he stopped talking about it. How tacky is that? Then I got to listen to the same guy snorting up his snot through his nose. That grosses me out enough when I'm not pregnant, but it's a million times worse when I am pregnant. Other than that, we had a good time at dinner and yes, it tasted really good to me. Not many things do these days. We went home after dinner, watched a movie, then went to bed. It was a long day, but we had a great time together as a family.

Two Plus One Makes Three!

Some people already know our good news, but now we are going to share it with everyone. We are expecting baby number three. We were trying to keep it a secret until I had my first ultrasound and got an official due date, but we were too excited and told some people. Then there's our little angel Jantzen that had to spill the beans at preschool a couple weeks ago. They were doing an art project where they had to color each member of their family and put them in order. Shadoe was cutting out some babies for some of the kids that have a little brother or sister to add to their papers. Jantzen decided to let Shadoe know that he needed a baby for his. She asked him if he was sure and he said "yes, my mommy has a baby in her tummy, I can't sit on her lap because she doesn't feel good". Shaode said Jantzen was very insistent about having a baby for his paper. She gave it to him and he put it on my tummy. She said it was the cutest thing. I did inform her when I picked him up that yes it is true, but we weren't really announcing it yet. Jantzen was very proud of his picture and I think it's so cute!

I went to the doctor yesterday, finally! My appointment was cancelled last week and I have been feeling like crap and have been wanting something to make me fell better so I can take care of my kids and my house. My poor house has been neglected for the last few weeks. Josh has been good about helping out when he's not at work.

I was told that I'm 12 weeks, but my ultrasound said the baby is only measuring 10 weeks 2 days. I'm hoping that changes, I don't want to have to be pregnant any longer than absolutely necessary. So, as of right now my due date is SEPTEMBER 7. Depending on how things go, I will probably be started the last week in August. Jaron is hoping. All of our birthdays are in July except for Jaron, so he wants another August baby so he doesn't feel so left out anymore. So far everything looks good and we are all really excited. Jaron asked me if he can start telling his friends now and I told him yes. First thing when he got to school today he went up to Espen and whispered the news in his ear. He was grinning from ear to ear while he was doing it. I'm really glad he's so happy about it. Jantzen is happy too, but I think he still wants to be the baby so hopefully we will have a girl and he can be my baby boy forever. Josh also is hoping for a girl. Our boys are momma's boys and he said he needs a little princess that will be a daddy's girl. In about 6-8 weeks we will be able to find out so we are going to be very anxious until then. We can't wait!

(Our little peanut, due Sept. 7)

Little Cheater

One thing the boys and I like to do on most nights while Josh is at work is play a game together after dinner. The other day they wanted to play Candyland so I agreed, even though we play this game all the time. I thought maybe this time I would win (I almost never do).

All was going well, Jaron won the first game and we had time to play another before it was time for baths. Jantzen wasn't too happy that he didn't win and during the next game he was behind everyone else. He went to draw a card on his turn and he picked up two. He decided that he wanted the second card that should have been Jaron's. It was the Princess Frostine card. We told Jantzen that it wasn't his card, but he threw a fit so we let him have it. He kept picking two cards every time it was his turn and Jaron and I decided to ignore it. So when he picked up another two cards on one of his turns we had to laugh. Jantzen had picked the gingerbread man card and had to go back to the beginning, he was furious! He said he wasn't going to play anymore. I told him that cheaters never win and I don't think he liked that. He proceeded to try and wrestle Jaron because he thought it was Jaron's fault he lost the game. I think Jantzen had enough of playing games with us because he then stormed off. Jantzen is the smallest cheater I know, and he's a sore loser, but then again most kids are at his age. I remember having to have the "winning isn't everything" talk with Jaron, and I still have to remind Josh of that sometimes. I guess boys never grow out of it.
