Family Math Game Night

Last night Josh and I, along with Kevin, took the kids to Cram's Family Math Game Night.  It was a fun activity put together by the PTSA.

When we first got there, the kids got to enjoy some pizza for dinner...

After dinner, Jaedyn started goofing around in front of the camera with the help of some "photo bombers".  I call these pictures, "The Many Faces of Jaedyn"...

  That girl cracks me up!

Jaedyn took a slight break from her picture posing to enjoy some cotton candy with Sadie, Jaron, and Jantzen...

Then it was time to go play some math games.  Jantzen took off with Sadie, Tate, and Kevin so I didn't get any pictures of them playing any games.  The rest of the kids stayed with Josh and I.  I know, going back to school at night to play some math games sounds kind of like a boring thing to do, but it was actually fun.  The kids, and Josh, had a good time...

 This game really confused me!

I think Jaedyn had a lot of fun hanging out at Jaron's school, she felt like one of the "big kids".

When we first got to the school, Jaedyn noticed this huge fish bowl full of Goldfish.  She said, "I want those Goldfish!".  In order to win them you had to guess how many were actually in there.  We put in some guesses for all the kids, including Josh.  Well guess what...Josh won them!  He was only off by 15 fish.  He guessed the year he was born.  How lucky is that?!?!

Jaedyn was so excited that he won them...for her!

The game night was over, so we headed home.  The kids had a lot of fun even though this night was all about math.

When we got home Jaedyn had to entertain us a little bit more...

I don't know how she comes up with all these things she does, but it sure is fun having her around to keep us all laughing.

Talent Show Hopeful...

Today Jaedyn and I had to go to Jantzen's school to help with the talent show.  The PTO was in charge of it this year and since I wasn't at the last meeting we had, the ladies on the board volunteered me to be the MC for the whole thing...yay me!!!

Jaedyn had fun playing around with Nicholas and pretending to play the piano while the kids were performing their talents...

...one day she hopes to be performing in it herself.

Heart Walk...2014

This morning Jantzen, Jaedyn, and I went to the Children's Heart Foundation's annual "Walk With the Heart of a Child" walk to support little Mylah (pictured in the middle).  This is the second time I've walked this in support of Mylah and this year Jantzen and Jaedyn wanted to join me.  They wanted to see Dallin and Rylee, who they used to be really good friends with (before they moved).  Jaron didn't want to come because we had to be there at 7am and that was way too early for him to get up on a Saturday morning...he said.  Jantzen didn't want a shirt this year because they had a purple heart on them, so he just wore a gray one.

The kids were excited to see each other when we got there, it's been a long time!

There was a lot to see and do before the actual walk started.  The kids found these "Storm Troopers" and "Jedi" wandering around...

  ...and we even found "Chewbacca".

Jantzen thought that was pretty cool.

Jaedyn got a cute little purple heart smiley face tattoo on her cheek...

We found Tiana, Belle, and Cinderella wandering around.  Jaedyn was a little nervous to have her picture taken with them, I'm not sure why.

After meeting some new friends, it was time to start the walk.  We walked around the mall, both inside and out, upstairs and downstairs.  It was fun walking and talking with friends while supporting so many kids with heart defects.

After we were all done walking, Lara gave all the kids a heart shaped ring pop, which Jaedyn loved!

We also got bananas, water, and granola bars.  Jaedyn used her banana as a phone instead of eating it...silly girl!

Here's part of the group that came to walk in support of Mylah...

It was another fun year at the heart walk.  I loved seeing Lara and her family again, we miss them so much!  I hope that I can continue to go every year and support her cute family.

Drive In Double Feature...

Tonight we took the kids to the drive in for some quality family time.  We went to see the "Lego Movie" because not all of us had seen it yet and my kids LOVE Lego's.

We stopped and got all of us some dinner on the way there and ate it before the movie started.  We made the kids' bed in the back of the car, opened their treats, then waited for the movie to start...Oh yeah, I made the family take some pictures too!

Jaedyn had to bring along Jantzen's Lego man that he got at "Lego Land" so he could watch the movie with us...she loves that thing!

 photo DSC08265.jpg

After the "Lego Movie" was over we were going to leave, but the next movie that was coming on was "Frozen", so Jaedyn insisted we stay to watch that one too.  We figured we were already there, so why not.

 photo driveinmovies.jpg

About half way through "Frozen" the whole family, minus Jaedyn and I, had fallen asleep.  She was determined to stay up and watch the whole thing, even though she's already seen it a million times!  She made it until there was about 10 minutes left...then she crashed with the rest of them!

It wasn't much fun trying to wake everyone up to go home, but I managed.  It was a fun night with the family and the kids are already asking when we're coming back.  I love that they love doing things together as a family...LOVE THEM!!!

Cram's Science Fair...2014

Tonight we headed over to Jaron's school for the annual Science Fair.   Because Jaron is in the accelerated science class, he's required to participate in the science fair as part of his grade.  This year his project idea included his guitar.  That doesn't surprise me, he's so into his guitar these days.

This year his project was titled "Does the Length of a Guitar String Affect Sound?".  This was the result of his hard, or I should say easy for him, work...

I helped him make the guitar for his display board and we both loved how it turned out...

Jaron only got "Honorable Mention" on his project, but that was okay with him.  He only cared about getting a good grade on it...he got an "A"!

After checking out Jaron's, Sadie's, and Kennedy's projects, the kids walked around looking at all the rest of the projects on display and then they started goofing around.

There was a lot of "photo bombing" going on with this crazy bunch.  Who knew that a school science fair could be so much fun...I certainly didn't!

So many crazies around here!  I guess it's a good thing that we know how liven up a science fair!

Field Trip to the Dentist!

Today Jaedyn had a field trip with her preschool class to a dentist's office.  This particular dentist just happened to be the dad of her preschool teacher, so the kids were a little excited to meet Sammy's grandpa.

When we first got there, the kids had to wait in the waiting room just like a patient does while waiting for the dentist to come get them.  They occupied their time with books, so it wasn't a big deal to them to have to wait.

When the dentist came, he took the kids to an exam room.  For some of them, including Jaedyn, this was the first time they've ever been in a dentist's office before.  He started off by showing them a super sized toothbrush, that they thought was pretty cool, a model of some teeth, and an ex-ray of some real teeth.  He taught them the proper way to brush their teeth and about what kinds of foods they should eat to keep their teeth healthy.

Jaedyn had to be a goof ball and show me her teeth...

Then, she got to take a turn in the exam chair...

 photo DSCN8770.jpg

She was a little nervous at first, but quickly got over it.  She laid very still while the dentist did a quick exam of her teeth...

I think Jaedyn enjoyed it more when it was someone else's turn sitting in the chair...

The kids got to see a few more things inside the mouth...

 photo DSCN8778.jpg

...they got to get a group picture with the dentist...

...and the super sized tooth brush...

...then they got donuts from the dentist...

He only gave them donuts because they promised to brush their teeth really good after.  But first, they enjoyed every last bite of them...

Lucky!!!  I never got yummy treats like that from my dentist growing up.  I only got nasty fluoride that took forever to get the taste out of my mouth.

Jaedyn had a really fun time on this field trip with her preschool friends.  I'm hoping this experience will make it easier for her (and me) when she goes in for her real exam.  Fingers crossed!!!
