Homework Time!

I think Jaedyn feels a little left out when the boys are doing their homework because she doesn't have any yet...I wouldn't be complaining and I don't the boys would either. To remedy this, she has started making up her own homework to do while the boys do theirs.

I caught her the day doing her "homework" with Jaron, it was so cute! She was really getting into it and I think Jaron enjoyed doing homework with her.



She was concentrating very hard. I wish I knew what was going on in her head while she was doing this. And sorry Josh, I think she's going to be a "righty".

I hope when she's older that she still likes to do homework, but she probably won't because her brothers don't.

Cub Scout Egg Drop

Yesterday Jaron had his annual Cub Scout Day Camp. One of the things they were doing this year was an egg drop. He had to build a 6 x 6 box with an uncooked egg inside. They were going to drop it off a ladder and see if the egg breaks or not. Josh helped Jaron make his box out of wood, cotton balls, part of an egg carton, and tape.

Here's the box they built all lined with cotton balls to keep the egg all nice and comfy...


Then they put the uncooked egg in a small part of an egg carton and wrapped it up with tape...




Doesn't that egg look nice and comfortable?


Then it was time to seal it up. Jaron helped Josh screw the lid on. I think he really enjoyed using Josh's power tools.


It was then time for the dropping of the eggs. The boys didn't actually get to drop their eggs themselves, unfortunately, but they all seemed to enjoy watching anyway.



Time to see if Jaron's egg broke...



Did it?...


Nope! Jaron was so excited that his egg didn't break. He had a nice strong box that kept it safe, along with a lot of cushioning. Not all of the boys were that lucky, most of the other eggs broke.


Jaron said he had a lot of fun at day camp. His favorite parts were the egg drop and shooting the BB guns. Now he wants a BB gun...we'll see about that later!

Reading Time With Jaedyn

Jaedyn LOVES books, and I'm so happy that she does. I got her some new books for Valentines Day and she hasn't put them down since. Almost every time I turn around I catch her reading one of them. I hope her love for books continues as she gets older.

The other day I caught her reading one of her books to her baby "Hello Kitty". It was the cutest thing ever to watch and listen to her read the story in her own little language. The only words I could understand were "Mimi Mow"...that's how she says "Minnie Mouse".



She is just so stinkin' cute!

Random Pictures of Silliness...

My kids can be so funny sometimes. They constantly make me laugh and cry everyday with the things they do. Here are a few things that they've been doing lately that have put a smile on my face...

Jaedyn has a fascination with this pen lately. I caught her using the rubber end as a teething toy. She was running it back and forth on her teeth while she was singing. It was so cute how happy she was about it.



Jaron and Jantzen love to play "Spore" on the computer and in real life. For those who don't know what it is, it's a game where you make your own planet and creatures that live on it. When they play in real life they make the toy room their "planet" and divide it into different parts that they live in. The other day I caught them also using their bedroom as part of their planet, otherwise known as "Hebus", and this is what I found "Devan", aka Jaron and "Ebos", aka Jantzen creating...

They had made their own little camp fire with an empty box lid, a blanket, some fake wood from their tool bench, and some fire from one of their Bionicles. I thought it was pretty creative.


This was their "eating area", I was quickly corrected when I called it a kitchen. By the look of things, it seems they are eating pretty well on their newly formed planet of "Hebus"...


The last thing I noticed was "Ebos's", aka Jantzen's sleeping area made in between his bed and the closet. It was complete with his favorite ducky blanket and his favorite stuffed animals, and no, that's not even close to being all of his stuffed animals...he has a million of them.


Then, there was this little creation that Jantzen made the other day. It wasn't just the robot he made that made me laugh, but it was the back story he gave me on its creation that made me laugh and get grossed out at the same time. He's always making something new and creative with his Legos, but this has been the funniest/most gruesome story to go along with it so far.

This is a Buzz Lightyear robot, it looks all cool, right? Well, here's the story that goes along with it...

I'm quoting directly from Jantzen now..."Big Buzz broke, so Zurg cut off his head and it was oozing blood so he had to clean it off and put Buzz's head on this robot body".

That's a little disturbing, I know. I have no idea where that all came from.



On a less disturbing note, here's a cute space ship that Jantzen made to go along with his Buzz. He told me he couldn't find his little "Buzz" Lego, so he had to use his "Boba Fett" Lego key chain instead. Nothing morbid about this one, but I thought it was super creative on his part.


I love that my kids are silly and creative. It keeps me wondering what they're going to come up with next.

Happy St. Patty's Day...2011

This morning I made my kids their traditional St. Patrick's Day breakfast before school. Last year it was a lot less chaotic making it because Jaron was on track break, but this year that wasn't the case. I was able to pull it off though and the boys still got to school on time.

I made them their green blueberry muffins, green scrambled eggs, and green milk for them to wash everything down with. They also got to use green plates and cups. Jantzen was the most excited about the muffins, Jaron not so much. Jaedyn was too little to eat all this last year, so it was all new to her.

Here are this years green blueberry muffins...(and yes, I used Superman cupcake liners because that's all I had in the house). They don't look very good, but they were.


Here's my little leprechauns enjoying their green breakfast. One of these days I'll find some green ketchup for them to use with their eggs. That's right, we all (minus Josh) like to eat our scrambled eggs with ketchup.



Jaron was the only one who wasn't too thrilled about the muffins. He's eaten them before, but for some unknown reason he won't eat them anymore. Jantzen and Jaedyn, on the other hand, couldn't get enough of the muffins.




Before we left for school, I had to get a picture of Jantzen's new St. Patrick's Day socks he picked out. He was so excited to wear them, aren't they so cute? I think they are and the best part was that they are from the $1 bin at Target.


I love having fun little traditions with my kids, they look forward to it every year and talk about it all the time. It makes me happy to know that they love it. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Little Miss Super "J"

A little while ago a friend of mine had some give aways of things that she was making on her personal blog. All you had to do was leave a comment on any or all of the gifts you wanted to try and win and there was going to be a drawing to see who got the privilege of owning these particular pieces of craftiness. I only entered a few of them because, lets face it, I never win anything. The one thing I wanted to win the most was a cape for Jaedyn. Her brothers already have ones that their grandma made for them. Guess what happened...I won the cape!! I was so excited! I gave Hannah my color order and this was the result...


Pretty cute, huh? I think so and so does Jaedyn. She loved wearing it and posing for me, except her binky also had to make an appearance...



Now all Jaedyn needs is her pretty pony and together they can save the world!

What a Mess!

Yesterday I was working on some more hair bows for Jaedyn, I know, she doesn't have enough already...we'll discuss that later. Anyway, I had to interrupt my afternoon of creativity to go pick Jaron up from computer club, so I just left all my stuff out and thought I'd just continue to work on hair bows when I got back. Oh, I was so wrong about that!

When I got back I overheard Josh talking to Jaedyn about letting mom (me) clean up the mess because they didn't know where everything went. At first I thought Jaedyn had done something...that's fine, right? I mean, she is just a baby. Yeah, it was Josh that had made the mess this time! Apparently, he "didn't see" the massive storage tote full of ribbons, flowers, material, buttons, and brads (that were all open, I might add) that was on the top part of the couch, so he just made himself comfortable and in the process knocked over the whole thing! Yes, I did get so mad at him for not paying attention to where he was sitting. I just couldn't understand how any one couldn't see such a big tote full of stuff.


It wouldn't have been that bad if my buttons and brads weren't open and it was just the ribbon that spilled everywhere...


After a 1/2 hour of reorganizing ribbon (yes, I'm anal about it all being together according to size) and only 2 HOURS of separating buttons and brads, this is how everything looked after I cleaned it up and how it was before "Josh-the-destroyer" got to it...


I just hope that I got all of the brads out of my carpet. Next time I'll remember to not leave my stuff out unsupervised when Josh is the only "adult" at home...Lesson learned!

Queen of the Remote

One of Jaedyn's favorite things to do is watch Disney channel in my room. She loves to have the remote and if you try to take it away from her she'll get mad and yell at you....it's kind of funny sometimes. She also loves to turn the TV on and off...constantly! That gets really annoying!

One day I took the pillows off my bed and put them on the floor for her to lay on and watch TV while I got ready for the day. Now, that's how it always has to be for her. If you don't get the pillows right away for her, she'll go get them off my bed herself, grab the remote, turn the TV on, and relax while flipping through channels. She's a pro at it already!



Jaedyn has been kind enough lately to let Jantzen cuddle up with her on the pillows in the morning, usually she likes to have them all to herself. However, she'll occasionally stand in front of the TV or sit on him so he can't see. She can be quite the little stinker sometimes, but we still love her.

She's a Nursery Girl Now!

Yesterday was Jaedyn's first day in nursery. She was supposed to go a couple weeks ago, but we were at a baby blessing and then last week was Stake Conference. She got to wear a new dress and she seemed to really like it, plus she looked absolutely adorable!

Before we left for church I had to get a picture of her in her pretty dress and right after I got this one, she ran over to the couch and wanted another one taken. I think maybe I take too many pictures of her, but I can't help the fact that my camera loves her so much!



Jaedyn started getting a little goofy after a couple pictures and this is the result of what I got...


Maybe I need to have the "modesty" lesson with her earlier than I want to.

Josh was the one that got to take her to nursery because he got a new calling and I ended up having to teach our Sunday School class by myself. Yes, I was super bummed out and I even almost cried walking to my class knowing that I couldn't be with her and he got to. I did toughen up though and taught my class while she played in nursery.

Jaedyn ended up doing a lot better than I thought she would. She only had to be held a little bit and that was after she had noticed that Josh was gone. I peeked in at her in between my classes and she wasn't crying, so I took that as a good sign. The nursery leaders said she didn't cry again until the other kids started getting picked up and we weren't there to get her yet. I was really surprised to see that her hair bow was still on her head, even though it was hanging on by a hair. Although I missed her, it was nice to be able to listen to the lesson in Relief Society and not be distracted by her cute little face. She's just growing up way too fast for me!

It's That Time of Year Again...

...Baseball has begun. Jaron was so excited to play baseball again, especially because Josh is his coach this season, and Jantzen didn't know how he was going to feel about it, but he was willing to try it out. Plus, Jantzen was so excited when he found out what his team name was. They are "Storm" and the first thing he said to me was, "That's just like Stormer from Hero Factory!"

We packed up all the kids and headed out to the ball park for a double header for Jaron and a single game for Jantzen. Jantzen's game was in between Jaron's games, so I found myself running back and forth the whole night. Unfortunately, Josh and Jaron weren't able to watch Jantzen play.

First up was Jaron's game, can't you see the excitement on his face...



After a couple missed swings he did hit the ball and made it to first base...



Jaedyn watched and cheered her brother on. I think she was wishing that she could go out there and play too.


She even got some attention from the coach, which she loved!


Jaron ended up playing first base, an outfielder, and even was catcher for an inning (I missed that picture opportunity, unfortunately). I could tell that he loved every minute of his games.


While watching Jaron's first game and waiting for Jantzen's game to start, the kids and I just hung out. Jantzen and Jaedyn ate some dinner (because we were there for over three hours) that consisted of nachos and Cheetos...they loved it all! That's one thing they look forward to when we are here...the yummy food!



Jaron's first game ended, I think they won and Jaron scored one point.


I then got the victory smile from him...nice!


Then Jaron got to enjoy his 20 minute "dinner break" before his next game started. He, like Jantzen and Jaedyn, also enjoyed some nachos...


While Jaron was eating his dinner Jantzen was warming up and practicing for his game. He was having so much fun throwing and catching the ball. He had to show me every time he caught the ball, he was so excited about it. It made me happy to know that he was having fun because last fall during soccer he complained the whole season and wasn't having any fun. He seems to like baseball a lot more than soccer, although he says that T-Ball isn't really baseball because you "hit the ball off a stick". I told him it is the same thing, but for the sake of not wanting to argue, I'm letting him think about it "his" way...he's so funny!

It was funny when Jantzen went up to bat because the helmet didn't fit him very well. He started pounding on it to get it on, he's just bigger than most of the kids playing so he needs a bigger helmet. He hit the ball off the T on his first try and made it all the way around the bases to score a point for his team. At first when he ran home, he totally skipped past the home plate, but he went back to touch it so he could actually claim the run. Then he went to take off the helmet and had a hard time with that too, but he did manage to free himself from it.



Then came time for Jantzen's team to go outfield. I'm not really sure what he's doing in these pictures, but he sure looks ready to catch a fly ball. I'm thinking that maybe he thinks giving a "mean" face will make the batter be intimidated...maybe?



But then, I don't know what he's doing here...maybe playing peek-a-boo? He definitely knows how to keep us laughing.


When Jantzen's game ended, we didn't know who won. It was just a lot of chaos with the kids running all over the field, trying to take the ball from each other. I'm just happy that he enjoyed playing and actually participated this time instead of playing Hero Factory out on the field (it helps that his Hero Factory friend Jansen is on another team).

It will be fun when Jaedyn's old enough to play sports too, that way I won't have to spend most of my time chasing her instead of watching the games.
