My Little Picasso

Most people who know Jantzen know that he LOVES to draw pictures. Everyday he's drawing more and more things. One of his favorite things to draw is, of course, Boba Fett. I have so many pictures of him that I think I will have to make an album dedicated only to Boba Fett. He does draw other things, but that's his main design.

While I love to see his pictures, I sometimes get frustrated because when I go to print something on the computer, I can't. That's right, I don't have any paper in the printer. That's where Jantzen gets all of his drawing paper. He just climbs up on the chair and gets what he needs. I think for his birthday this year I am going to get him his own pack of drawing paper. It might not last him very long, but at least I will get to use the printer for a little while.

I have decided that the easiest way to keep track of these works of art is to put them on the computer. So now I'm going to share them with everyone else because I think they are so cute...

This is a drawing of Mickey Mouse that Jaron helped Jantzen make after we had gone to Disneyland. Notice who is on the picture with Mickey.

Here is a drawing of Boba Fett in the sun. This is also one of the first times Jantzen wrote his name. He does an awesome job on it and I didn't even work with him on writing it very much.


Here is a drawing that Jantzen did just a few days ago. It's a self portrait of him with me. He wanted to make sure that we were wearing the same outfit in it. I think he does a better job of drawing people than I do.

For those of you who know what "Phineas and Ferb" is you'll know who this is a drawing of. It's Candice, the sister. Every time the boys watch this show Jantzen tells me that I'm Candice.


I like this one the best..it's a drawing of my Tahoe. Jantzen made sure to put the scratches and paint on it that I got last week from side swiping the pole. He's so hilarious!


This is the coloring that we did in Sunbeams on Sunday. Jantzen was supposed to draw every member of his family inside the house and he only drew Boba Fett and Jango Fett (all of his pictures from church have Boba Fett on them somewhere). He told us that Boba is him and Jango is Josh. I guess the rest of us aren't cool enough to be Star Wars characters. Oh well, it's still cute.


There are so many more pictures that Jantzen has drawn, but I don't have enough room to post them all. I loved to draw when I was little, so I'm glad that I passed that along to him.

A little side note...

Jantzen said something funny last night so I had to write it down. We were getting ready to go to bed and he had one of Josh's old cell phones that they play with now. We told him that it was time for bed and he told us that he is texting right now and he needs to finish texting so he can send it to my blog. How can you get mad at him for stalling when he's being so cute and funny. The things that kids know these days.

OOPS!!

Yesterday was a really bad day for me...starting in the morning. Getting three kids ready for school at 7:40 am is taking its toll on me. I have less energy every day and I just don't want to get out of bed (I'm hoping the nesting period comes soon so I can get my house back in order).

Anyway, after dealing with Jantzen's attitude all morning while running errands it was time to get Jaron from school. I thought I would be nice and get one of the teachers (who has pick up duty after school) a slurpee since it's so stinkin' hot here right now. When I was leaving 7-11 I backed up too far and side swiped a pole. I didn't see it at all. I was so furious and then freaked because I didn't know how Josh would take it...heck, I've only had the thing for just over a month and just barely made the first payment on it.

When I got home I called Josh and left him a message since he was in a meeting. Then the boys and I tried to wash off the yellow paint, but didn't have much luck. Josh finally called back and asked what happened. I told him and he said I made it sound worse on my message. He was just glad that no one got hurt and said the dents and scratches can be fixed. I was glad that he was so understanding and not mad. He asked me what I learned from this...I think I won't park in the same place at 7-11 anymore.

Josh was able to get the paint cleaned off so now all that is left are the scratches and dents. I now have to find somewhere to get them fixed. He told me he was waiting for something like this to happen since I'm driving a larger vehicle than I'm used too. I know I'm never going to live this down with him. He is going to harass me for years.

A Day At The Circus!

The circus was in town this last weekend so we decided to take the kids. Since Taylor is staying with us until the end of the school year we took her with us as an early birthday present. It has been years and years since I have been and I think that every child needs to experience the circus at least once in their life. We got some cute pictures of the kids and the animals. We all (except for Josh) took turns wearing the hat that came with our cotton candy. Jaron chowed the cotton candy down really fast. It's funny...he won't eat licorice, but he'll eat cotton candy.

There was a lot of acrobatics and clowns, but I think the kids liked the animals the best. The clowns did a lot of magic tricks that were pretty cool. Jaron's favorite thing the clowns did was at the beginning when they played musical chairs. It was pretty funny.



The first animals to come out were the elephants doing their parade. Jantzen got very excited! The elephants and the dogs were his favorite part. After they went back inside the horses and zebras came out. Both groups went into separate areas and did stunts. The zebras, although really cool to look at, were pretty boring. They didn't do much, but the horses were fun to watch.



Then the dogs came out. I don't remember dogs being in the circus when I was little, but they were hilarious to watch. They were dancing in dresses, jumping through hoops, jumping over hurdles (which some of the dogs purposely knocked them over), and went down slides. The funniest dog they had was a little yorkie. Everything they wanted him to do he would do the opposite. The funniest was the slide...they had the dogs climb up the stairs and then go down the slide, but when it was the yorkie's turn he went up the stairs and then turned around and went back down them. Then one of the trainers pretended to chase him around the slide to get him back up there. Jantzen couldn't stop laughing.


The elephants came back out to do their tricks. It was amazing how these big animals could do the things they did. I remember them being one of my favorite things in the circus when I was little.




After the elephants were done came the tigers. They put up a large cage that they were in with their trainer. I'm glad...I wouldn't have wanted one of them to jump in the audience. That trainer is pretty brave to be in there with eight tigers. They did some fun tricks, but some of the tigers seemed to get really mad at each other and their trainer. Josh thinks it was part of the show because one of the tigers didn't want to do a trick and started growling at the trainer (almost like he was giving attitude...like a child). The trainer got in his face and was giving attitude back. The very last tiger got to dance with the trainer.




Anytime the ring master would ask for audience participation with dancing Jantzen was very happy to go along. He really got into everything. It was cute to watch him. When the show was all over Jantzen asked where the monkeys were. He was really hoping there would have been some doing tricks. I told him they were in the audience...he started looking around for them and said he didn't see them. I had to point out that he was one of them and Jaron and Taylor were the other two monkeys. He thought that was funny.



We had a great afternoon/evening at the circus. I'm glad we were able to go and take our boys with us to enjoy it. After we left we went to dinner to celebrate father's day...we let Josh decided where he wanted to go, we ended up going to Red Robin. It was yummy. Then we went home to have another popcorn movie night. It was a great weekend, so here's a BIG thank you to Josh for working so hard so we can enjoy fun outings like this together as a family. You're the GREATEST!!

30 Week Check-up

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my 30 week check-up. I took Jantzen with me because he loves to go and hear Jaedyn's heartbeat. I got to have another ultrasound to make sure Jaedyn's developing properly. Everything looked good...her organs are developed pretty good, but I was told that she's still a little on the small side. They estimate that she is about 2 lbs. 15 oz. (+/- 7 oz.). I was told that she will approximately weigh around 7 lbs when she's born. I told the ultrasound tech that that's fine with me...it would make for an easier delivery.

Jantzen looked in awe at the images of Jaedyn on the TV. He thought it was really cool! We got a good profile picture of her puckering up her lips and even got to see that she has hair. Yeah! Both Jaron and Jantzen were pretty much bald when they were born. They had a tiny bit of hair that went away very quickly. You wouldn't know that now because they both have nice, thick hair...no fair! Hopefully Jaedyn will get her dads hair too.

Jaedyn was being a wiggly worm during the whole ultrasound. I asked the tech to make sure that she was still a girl because we have gotten rid of all our boy clothes. She tried to look but was having a hard time because Jaedyn was keeping her feet crossed and wouldn't move them. That could be a good thing, right? I don't think she likes her personal space being invaded, but YES, she's still a she.

We tried to see more profile shots, but just kept getting the arms in the face. We even caught her rubbing her face. It's amazing how much personality they already have before they are born.




When I got to see my doctor he said everything looks good, but that she's in the 20th percentile so they have to keep an eye on that. If she goes down to the 10th they will have to check her even more. Maybe she will be lucky enough to be shorter than me...I always hated being so tall.

My doctor told me he didn't really want me traveling anywhere, but we have plans to go to Utah for the July 4th weekend. We'll have to see how we feel about going before we decide not too. I told my doctor that Josh and I had a feeling that Jaedyn was going to come early...around the first part of August. He told me not to have her between August 1st through the 6th because he would be out of town. I told him he shouldn't have said that because the doctor I had with Jaron told me the same thing and I had him that very weekend. We'll have to see if it happens again.

I now have to start going every two weeks for check ups and I will be having another ultrasound next time to make sure Jaedyn's not too small. I am excited because this means it's getting closer to being over and we will get to enjoy Jaedyn from the outside (I will get my body back, yeah!).

On the way home from the doctor Jantzen started telling me that Jaedyn is going to be daddy's. I asked him about him and Jaron and this is what he said, "Jaedyn is daddy's princess and me and Jaron are mommy's boys". It was really cute how he was saying it. I told Josh when he got home from work and he said the boys are more like "mom ma's boys". That's okay, I have fun with my boys. We are so excited and can't wait to meet Jaedyn.

Field Day Fun!

I'm a little slow at getting this posted , but I just got these pictures from Amy. I forgot my camera so she was kind enough to take some for me. So this is going to be about Jaron, pre-hair cut.

Last month Jaron's school had their annual field day. They do this every year around the end of the school year. It's always so hot so they do a lot of games that involve getting wet so they can cool off. It probably would have been nice for Jaron to have had his hair cut before this, but since they played in water he was fine. I brought my spray bottles with fans that I used for soccer to keep the kids cool when they weren't getting wet. They couldn't get enough of them.

One of the first games they played involved holding a ball between two kids' heads and walking a certain distance back and forth. Jaron, of course, did this with Kristin. They were so cute! It almost looks like they are kissing. I have already harrassed him about that and he just blushed. He said he likes her, I can totally tell by his face when I mentioned it to him.


The next game involved an enclosed ball that had slits in it with a water balloon inside. You wind it up and it gives you a certain amount of time before it makes the balloon pop and you get water all over you. The kids were having too much fun with this one. There was so much screaming from the girls that I think I lost some of my hearing. Notice who Jaron is sitting by again...that's right, it's Kristin!



I just love this picture of Jaron. He looks so cute and grown up in it. I almost wished I could play the games and get wet with him it was so hot.


Next there was some games on the field (with the almost dead grass) that was mostly a small obsticle course. It was funny watching the kids try to hurry through these hoops. When they got to the mats they had to roll on them. It's a good thing Jaron has a lot of energy. I was exhausted just watching.



Jaron was excited for this one. He had to lift a bucket over his head that was full of water and hand it to the person behind him. What he didn't know was that there was holes in the bottom of it. He got soaked...I'm sure he enjoyed it though. Just look at his expression...it's priceless!


He had some more relay races that they had to team up on poles for. I thought this was a little dangerous, but no one got hurt. Jaron did awesome on it! I don't understand why he didn't have this much energy when he was playing soccer. Both him and Espen took a quick break to pose for the camera. They are thinking in their heads..."we are so cool, just look at us!"



The last relay race they did they had to hang on a rope with a group of kids and run to one end of the black top. Once they got to the end they all had to put on jersy's without letting go of the rope and then run back to where they started. This was hilarious to watch even though some of the kids were getting very frustrated. Jaron was so nice, he helped Kaitlyn because she was having problems. I love the look of determination on his face while he runs back to the start. He is a very competitive person, he gets that from his dad.



After all the games were done the kids got to enjoy popcicles. I brought more than what they got from the school because I knew they would need it. Jaron just hung out with some friends while chatting and enjoying the coolness of the popcicles. Notice the face pulling again...this happens way too much in pictures of him and Jantzen. He definintly got Kristin's attention. I noticed she was never too far away from him the whole time they were playing. He had a great time and wishes he could do this everyday instead of doing his school work, don't we all.

It's Not "Swine Flu", Thank Goodness

Jantzen woke up again this morning with a temperature of 102.7 so I decided it was time I take him to the doctor. We were lucky to be able to get an appointment today...we got the last available spot they had.

Before the doctor came in Jantzen was being really cute. I think he was a little nervous being there. He doesn't go to the doctor very much, usually just for his well check ups. He kept talking about the room we were in (each room has different Disney characters painted on the walls). We were in the Lady and the Tramp room, which Jantzen was excited about because he loves dogs. He also talked about how to spell his name and my name and told me his address. He then started asking when the doctor was going to be there because he wanted to go home. After a few minutes he decided he wanted to lay on my lap and get a back rub while we waited.

When the doctor got there she checked him out. She had mentioned that he might have the Swine Flu...I was hoping not. It turns out that he has strep throat, poor little guy. I feel really guilty that I made him wait three days before I took him to get checked out.

I got his antibiotic filled and when I went to give him his first dose for the day I found him asleep in Jaron's bed. Apparently while I was gone getting his prescription filled he had gotten both Taylor and Josh to read him some stories while he laid in Jaron's bed and then he fell asleep. I didn't want to wake him because he needs all the rest he can get. I'm just glad that we finally know what's going on with him and that we can get it taken care of. Only 9 more days of his medicine and all should be well.

On the bright side, with him not eating anything the last three days, he hasn't lost any weight. He has actually gained 1 1/2 lbs. since he cut his forehead a few months ago, so that's good. It makes me feel good that he will be back to himself soon, but I am really going to miss him wanting to cuddle all the time.

My Sick Little Monkey

For the last two days I have been dealing with a sick little Jantzen. On Friday Jaron came home from school early because he was sick and had a fever of over 100 degrees. His only lasted for half the day and then he was back to normal, there went his perfect attendance record at school.

Jantzen started getting sick yesterday morning around 1:30 am. He started crying so I went to check on him, he seemed fine so I went back to bed. About a half hour later he came into our room and climbed into bed with us. He is so wiggly when he sleeps so neither Josh or I got much sleep. When I woke up Jantzen was complaining that he didn't feel good. He was warm so I took his temperature, sure enough he had a fever over 101 degrees. I gave him some Tylenol and hoped it would work like it did with Jaron. It turned out that it didn't work that well and he got a fever as high as 103, almost to 104 degrees. He didn't do much yesterday but sleep,lay on the couch, and want me to cuddle with him. He doesn't get sick very often and when he does it doesn't usually last very long. This time was different...

This morning he woke up again around the same time and just came into our room. After a little while being in bed with us he said he had to throw up. Josh took him in the bathroom. He ended up doing this twice and the second time he didn't quite make it all in the toilet. I was the lucky one who got to clean it up, while dry heaving myself. Jantzen was still burning up and didn't sleep very well, not to mention we didn't sleep well either for the second night in a row. When Josh left for work around 4am he moved Jantzen over to his side of the bed so I wouldn't be squished, but as soon as he left Jantzen moved right back next to me. From then on he just wiggled and kicked me and kicked his legs on the bed. I told him to stop, but he didn't. I think we both finally got to sleep around 5:30 or 6 (I have to get up at 6:30 to wake Jaron up for school) and I got woken up by a slap in the face by Jantzen. He, of course, was asleep so I couldn't get mad at him. When he woke up I asked him why he slapped me and he said, "you shouldn't have said up in space". He's talking about the high five Josh just taught him where you say, "give me five up in space, slap your face" and you slap the persons face.

He still had a fever when he woke up but it wasn't as high as the day before. About midday his fever went down below 100 degrees so I thought he was better, even though he didn't really act like it. He was still wanting to cuddle and take a nap with me. I have no problem these days taking a nap, especially since I haven't been getting much sleep at night. At one point today he felt good enough that he wanted to play a motorcycle game on the Wii so I let him. I went upstairs for a few minutes and then I heard silence. I went down to check on him and he was asleep with the controllers in his hand.



We did get our nap in today, thanks to Jaron's teacher who brought him home from school for me. The rest of the time Jantzen has been cuddling with anyone he can, even Jaron. I really hope he gets better because I don't know how many more nights Josh and I can go without sleep. I guess he's just getting us prepared for Jaedyn.

Egyptian Funeral

Jaron's class just got done learning about Ancient Egypt. In celebration of this they did a reenactment of an Egyptian funeral, the same way it was done back then. The kids made Sarcophagus' to have their dead buried in and they all dressed up. There was even some girls in the back that were called "The Criers". Apparently, back then, women were paid to cry at funerals, even if they didn't know the person.

Jaron got to be in the front carrying a Sarcophagus and leading the funeral procession through a bunch of different classrooms. His teacher had some Egyptian funeral music playing and all the kids had to have their heads down as if they were really mourning. They were so serious, it was fun to watch them.




After they were done parading around they had to go and bury the Sarcophagus' in a tomb. Jaron's teacher had made a big blow up tomb that the kids put ancient Egyptian writings on. It was really cool. I got a video of Jaron taking his in first....





After all the kids were done I got a picture of all of them together. I told them to pose, not all of them would, but this is what I got. I love how Jaron was posing...he really got into it. He was being so cute!



When we got back to Jaron's classroom he decided that I needed to get a picture of him posing as if he were a dead Egyptian. He laid down on the floor and played the part well. You looked awesome Jaron!!


The kids all seemed to have a good time. I love how Jaron's teacher does things like this to get the kids involved in learning. Jaron has taught me so much about Ancient Egypt. Everyday he would ask me a different question about it that I wouldn't know. It's amazing how much you forget learning in school as the years go by. It's a good thing I have kids to refresh my memory.
