Spring Break 2013...Final Day!!

Today was the last day of our spring break vacation. We were all sad that it was coming to an end, but at the same time we were all happy that we were going to get to sleep in our own beds tonight.

Before we headed home, we had a breakfast reservation with Mickey Mouse and some of his friends.  The kids were really excited for this!

They got to meet Stitch...

 photo DSCN6651.jpg

...Jaedyn wasn't too sure about him, she doesn't really know who he is.

Then, Pluto came over to say "hi"...

 photo DSCN6652.jpg

 He gave Jaedyn a hug...

 photo DSCN6653.jpg

...licked Jaron's head...

 photo DSCN6654.jpg

...and laughed and joked around with Jantzen...

 photo DSCN6655.jpg

The kids all thought Pluto was a lot of fun!

Jaedyn was very excited to meet Minnie Mouse.  She brought her stuffed Minnie, and even wore her new Minnie Mouse earrings that we got for her at Disneyland so she could show them to the actual Minnie Mouse when she came by.

Before Jaedyn got to meet Minnie, the boys took her up for some dancing with Mickey and Daisy.  Jaedyn wasn't too thrilled about it, I'm not sure why.  Jaron really tried to get her to dance, but she just stood there and did nothing.

Finally, after some attempts at dancing, Minnie came over to say "hi" to the kids...

 photo DSCN6662.jpg

Jaedyn was sooo happy!  She showed Minnie her earrings she just got and then she got a hug and kiss from her...

Josh even got a kiss from Minnie...I think he's actually blushing!

 photo DSCN6665.jpg

Then Daisy came over to say "hi"...

 photo DSCN6667.jpg

Jaedyn got a hug and kiss from her too.  The boys were okay with not getting one, I think.

 photo DSCN6668.jpg

After meeting Minnie and Daisy, Jaedyn was a little happier, so when Stitch and Mickey starting doing some surfing she decided she'd go up.  The boys thought they were too old to do it, so they stayed back and watched Jaedyn.

Jaedyn had fun surfing and after that decided that Stitch was okay...

We finished our breakfast fun and then headed out to our car to go home, but we saw another friend on our way out...he didn't talk that much though...

 photo DSCN6676.jpg

We decided that we'd take our time getting home.  Since we weren't in a hurry, we drove up to Los Angeles and took the kids to the observatory up in the Hollywood hills...

The boys have been here before, but Jaedyn hasn't, so it was fun for her to explore things.

Last time we came here we didn't do much inside, so this time we did.  The kids got to explore a lot of fun things like this telescope that Jantzen was really enjoying...

 photo DSCN6681.jpg

...and seeing themselves on an infrared screen (from left to right-Jaedyn, Jantzen, & Jaron)...

 photo DSCN6682.jpg

We went downstairs and found some things about the universe.  Jaron tried to lift the Moon...

 photo DSCN6683.jpg

...and Jaedyn got surprised, by what I have no idea...

 photo DSCN6684.jpg

The kids sat down with Albert Einstein...

 photo DSCN6685.jpg

 photo DSCN6686.jpg

...and their expressions made me laugh!

We got to see the planets (they were really big in person) and learn more about each one of them.  I'm not sure what's going on with Jantzen in this picture...

 photo DSCN6687.jpg

We got done exploring and learning about everything that was inside the observatory, so we headed back outside.  I got one picture of Josh and I with the Hollywood sign behind us just for proof that our kids were not wandering around by themselves.  The sign looked a lot closer in person.

 photo DSCN6688.jpg

Here's Jantzen and Jaedyn being silly...they play so well together.

 photo DSCN6689.jpg

We then headed to Beverly Hills...

 photo DSCN6690.jpg

...and we found this really huge, cool looking tree there...

 photo DSCN6692.jpg

 photo DSCN6693.jpg

The kids had to get their picture with both sides of this tree.  They thought it was the coolest tree they've ever seen, I'd have to agree with them.

After we left Beverly Hills, we decided to drive down to the Santa Monica Pier and walk around.  However, we didn't quite make it there.  The roads getting there were a little confusing and the traffic was horrible, so we just drove by it along the PCH.  We thought it would be fun to drive along the PCH up to Malibu because we've never been there.  As we were driving, the kids noticed these houses...

 photo DSCN6695.jpg

Jaedyn's first words about them were, "I want that house!".  She's referring to the pink and purple one.  It just happened that there was a perfect house for each one of them all together.  Jantzen gets the green/tan one, Jaron gets the black one, and Jaedyn, of course, gets the pink and purple one.  They thought that was cool.

We made our way up to Malibu and it was beautiful!  The view of the ocean from the mountains was amazing!  Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it so you'll just have to take my word on it.

We finally made it home late and tired, but we all had a fun vacation together.  It's so nice that we can do fun things like this together as a family.  Next year I think we might try Sea World again.

Spring Break 2013...Day 5

"Disneyland...Day 3"

Today was our last day at Disneyland. We decided to go back and forth between Disneyland and California Adventures to hit all the rides that we hadn't been on yet and possibly ride some again that we already did. Our main plan for the day was to get to the park before they opened so we could try and get on the "Radiator Springs Raceway". The line for that ride gets really long super fast!

When we got to the park, the boys and I got in line by the entrance to California Adventures while Josh and Jaedyn got in line for the fast pass for "Radiator Springs". That way we figured we'd have a better shot at actually getting to ride it before our trip was over. As soon as the park opened, it seemed like everyone had the same idea we did. It was like a herd of cattle heading to the same field, in our case, a super fun ride. The boys and I went in the line that looked shorter and we didn't realize until we were almost to the front that it was the "singles" line, meaning we'd have to ride separately to fill up other cars. We were okay not all riding together at this particular moment because Josh was still waiting in line to get our fast passes and we really wanted to ride it. Jantzen actually chickened out at the last minute because he didn't want to ride without me, so he waited until Jaron and I were done.

The ride was really fun! It will be even better when we can all ride it together.

After Jaron and I were done on the raceway (the car I was in totally beat Jaron's car), we met up with Josh and Jaedyn. They were able to get us some fast passes for "Radiator Springs", but we couldn't go back until 1pm, so we went back over to Disneyland and rode some rides that we hadn't gone on yet.

Jaedyn was begging to go on the "Dumbo" ride, so Josh went with her.  She, of course wanted to ride in the purple Dumbo...

 photo DSCN6605.jpg

Jaron and Jantzen decided they weren't too cool to go on it too...they had a blast!!

 photo DSCN6608.jpg

Then, Jaedyn insisted on riding the carousel again. I think she's been on this ride about four or five times now, she loves it! This time I went on it with the kids while Josh stayed by the stroller. I love the expressions my kids make when they have a camera pointed in their direction...

 photo DSCN6612.jpg

We couldn't leave Disneyland and not ride the tea cups. Josh can't handle rides like this and I like them, so I got to go with the kids...

 photo DSCN6613.jpg

 photo DSCN6614.jpg

...we had a blast spinning around as fast as we could!

Disneyland brought back "Captain EO" in 3D with Michael Jackson, so that's where we headed next. On our way there we ran into this storm trooper...the boys thought he was cool!

 photo DSCN6615.jpg

BTW, "Captain EO" is not as cool as it was when I was a kid. It was really cheesy and the graphics were horrible! My kids just looked at Josh and I like we had mental issues for thinking it was ever cool and for making them watch it. Sorry kids, I know that's time you can never get back!

"Tower of Terror" is one of Josh and Jaron's favorite rides in California Adventures and they had to get a fast pass to go on it because the line was over an hour wait. They couldn't convince Jantzen to go on it with them, so he stayed with Jaedyn and I.  I'd have to say that I really don't blame Jantzen for not wanting to go on it, I can't handle those kind of rides.

 photo DSCN6616.jpg

While we were waiting for Josh and Jaron to get done on the tower, we met some more friends...

 photo DSCN6617.jpg

Jantzen had no desire to meet Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, but Jaedyn thought they were cool. They thought Jaedyn was cute and they were discussing amongst themselves about wanting to add her to their family, I told them I think I'll keep her.

Josh and Jaron got done on the tower and it was time for us to head over and use our fast passes on "Radiator Springs". Along our way we met Flik, Jaedyn wanted nothing to do with him. I'm thinking giant bugs are a little too much for her.

 photo DSCN6621.jpg

We then made our way back to Cars Land. When we got in line we were told we'd only have to wait about 10-15 minutes...nice!! We were so excited to ride this all together.

 photo DSCN6622.jpg

The ride was awesome, again. Jaedyn and Jantzen loved it for the first time and Jaron loved it for the second time. The kids all got a Cars button as we were leaving...

 photo DSCN6623.jpg

I had to sneak myself in a picture with Josh with some of the awesome scenery behind us...

 photo DSCN6625.jpg

...then we checked out some of the races as we were leaving...

 photo DSCN6628.jpg

Before we left "Cars Land" we were able to officially meet Lightning McQueen, and talk to him...Jantzen was fascinated!

 photo DSCN6629.jpg

We then decided to go back over to Disneyland so the boys could use their fast passes for "Star Tours". On our way out of California Adventures we stopped by a souvenir shop and let Jaedyn pick out something. She picked out this cute Ariel stuffed doll...

 photo DSCN6630.jpg

As we were walking back into Disneyland we ran into Belle. Jaedyn was sooo excited that she was finally going to meet her other favorite princess. Josh took the boys over to their ride and I stayed with Jaedyn so she could visit with Belle. Belle was so cute with her and she spent about 10-15 minutes talking to Jaedyn about her pretty necklace, her hair, and some other things. Jaedyn was in awe of her...

 photo DSCN6634.jpg

After the boys were done on "Star Tours", which they all loved, Josh and Jaron got in line for the "Materhorn". This is Jaron's absolute favorite ride at Disneyland and he didn't want to leave without getting to ride it. The line was about an hour wait, but Josh was a good sport and said he'd wait with him. Even though Jantzen liked this ride last time we were here, he didn't want to go on it this time. Instead, I took Jantzen and Jaedyn back over to "Toon Town" and let them play in Goofy's House and on Donald's boat...Jantzen really enjoyed this!

 photo DSCN6635.jpg

The "Materhorn" actually had some "technical difficulties" when Josh and Jaron were about to get on, so they had to wait even longer before they could ride it. While we waited even longer for them, I took Jaedyn and Jantzen on a few more little rides. Josh and Jaron met up with us when they were done. We did end up going on the Buzz Lightyear ride again and I didn't notice until we were off it that Jaedyn had lost her hair bow somewhere inside. There were too many people for me to get through to try and find it, so I just left it.

It was getting late and we were able to ride pretty much everything we wanted and then some, so we decided to head back to our hotel. Before we left, we took the boys to another souvenir shop to let them pick something out and my whole family got a little distracted in the process by this video game...

 photo fixitfelix.jpg

That's right, it's "Fix it Felix" from "Wreck it Ralph". I didn't know it was an actual game, but it was even before that movie came out. They all had a lot of fun playing it.

I got a quick picture of Josh and Jaron in front of the Materhorn...

 photo DSCN6641.jpg

...then we headed down Main St. on our way out of Disneyland. The kids didn't want to stay for the fireworks again, instead they wanted dinner. Here's the dinner they wanted...ice cream! Yep, Josh and I are cool like that...sometimes!

 photo DSCN6642.jpg

 photo DSCN6643.jpg

Here's my littles with their souvenirs. Jantzen picked out a "Boba Fett" gun, Jaedyn got her Ariel doll, and Jaron picked out a "Star Wars" Lego set (surprise, surprise!)...

 photo DSCN6644.jpg

Jaedyn's souvenir was a double surprise though...it turns into Sleeping Beauty too!

 photo DSCN6646.jpg

We were all a little sad that our fun at Disneyland was over, but we were all exhausted from the last three days of 12 hours of walking at the parks and very little sleep in between, so we were also ready to be done. All that exhaustion is worth it though when you see smiles on your kids' faces from all the fun they're having. I'm so glad we were able to spend our spring break here as a family.

Tomorrow we're heading back home, but we have a few more fun things to do before we get there. We're going to have breakfast with Mickey Mouse and some of his friends, the kids are excited!
