As usual, I went to take pictures and enjoy some of the water activities with the kids. The first activity the kids got to do was race kites...
Jaron did pretty well, but as you can see below, he got bored with it really fast. I think maybe it took too long for him to get another turn because they had to combine with another class this year on each activity.
Next up was crab soccer with a massively huge soccer ball! Jaron got in some good kicks...
...and then was really exhausted!
Then Jaron's class went to race hula hoops. It was funny watching the kids do this because they were running so fast that all their hoops kept going the wrong direction. Jaron didn't do too bad though...
After they were done racing hula hoops, Jaron's class went to their first water game. It was with the water balloons that are put in a timer ball (Jaron's favorite). If the timer goes off while you're holding it, then the water balloon breaks and you get all wet. Of course, all the kids wanted to get wet, so they'd hold onto the ball for longer than they were supposed to, so us adults made them pass it faster. Since all the kids wanted to get wet, us adults just started throwing water balloons at them...they all loved it!
The next water game they played was with a parachute and a cup of water. The kids had to balance a cup of water on a plate in the middle of a parachute while walking a certain distance. As you can imagine, the kids never got that far before the cup would tip over, but they still had fun.
They got to the point where they would just fill up the cup, put it on the plate, and then toss it in the air with the parachute. That's how they got all we, so it's definitely more fun that way.
As Jaron was heading to the next game, one of his classmates dumped a whole cup of water on him. I thought it was funny, but he didn't really feel the same...
Next up was a relay race. In this one, they had to pull themselves along a rope with a scooter...
Then crawl under hurdles...
And jump over hurdles (don't you think Jaron looks likes "Mario" doing his "whoo-hoo" yell in this pic?)...
Then crawl through a tent before running all the way back to do it again...
Jaron really liked that relay race, but this next race he didn't like so much. I think it might have been because of the girl he's racing with. The whole day she was trying to get Jaron to hold her hand or kiss her...yuck! Thankfully he's a good kid and he politely told her "NO!". Anyway, in this race the kids had a squishy ball between their backs and they had to scoot along to a cone and back. This took a lot of team work and some of the kids had a really hard time with that, but Jaron didn't even though he was uncomfortable with the partner he had.
The last game Jaron's class played was a water one. They had to toss water filled sponges back and forth to each other. You can imagine how that went with a bunch of hyper 4th graders...yep, they got all wet and enjoyed every minute of it! One of the scoops to catch the sponge in went missing, so Jaron ended up having to use his hat, but he didn't care, he really had a good time with this game...
Here's Jaron's class after they were all done with the field day games. They were all wet, but very happy! And, that's Jaron on the front row with all the girls acting all cheesy...
Before they went back to class, all the kids got some otter pops to help them cool off even more than they already were from being all wet.
Jaron said he had a fun time this year at field day and now Jantzen can't wait for his kindergarten field day (later this month).
