We were finally able to go on a camping trip this weekend. We headed up to Logandale Trails, one of Josh's favorite places to ride his dirt bike. We met up with our friends, the Ashby's, for some fun and the kids were really excited. We found a nice spot to set up our camp, it was so beautiful...
By the time we were all set up it was already dark, so Josh got a fire going and we started cooking our tin foil dinners. Jaedyn was mesmerized by the fire...
After dinner, the kids did a little hiking in the dark. I wouldn't let them go too far because they couldn't see anything. They found a little cave just above our camp to play in and spent most of the night there...
Jaedyn borrowed her daddy's headlight so she could see better. I think she looked super cute with it on her head...
After we had some smores we went to bed. It was pretty warm all night and all the kids slept good...Josh and I didn't. We sleep better when it's cold outside.
The next morning we got up and Josh made bacon and eggs for breakfast and we had some blueberry muffins on the side. After breakfast the kids took off playing and hiking. We borrowed Nena's four wheeler and that's the first thing Jaedyn wanted to do when she woke up. This little girl was born to ride!...
She pretended to give her brothers a ride...
After the boys' ride was over, Jaedyn was nice enough to pose for a picture...what a cutie she is!
Josh took off on his dirt bike for a ride along with Gregg on his four wheeler and I stayed back at camp with the kids. Jaron, Jace, and Jantzen went hiking...
...while Jaedyn pouted because I wouldn't let her go as high as her brothers. Just look at that sad face with that lip hanging out...I'm such a mean mom!
After some hiking, the boys had to spend a little time playing video games...I didn't let them for very long. I made them enjoy the outdoors.
After lunch we found this little guy laying on this rock by our picnic table and we thought he was dead because he wasn't moving, even when the kids tried to move him with a stick. Jaedyn kept saying how sad it was that he was dead, then all of a sudden he moved off the rock and then flew away. Jaedyn was so excited that he wasn't dead after all.
Jantzen decided it was his turn to go for a ride on the four wheeler, he thought he could drive it himself...
...too bad for him we wouldn't let him. Instead, I took him for a ride. We went for a long ride on some trails and it was a lot of fun! I really need to get a four wheeler of my own.
When Jantzen and I got back from our ride, I took Jaedyn for a little ride, then we all hung out for a little bit.
Jaedyn was very insistent on wearing my hat, she loves that thing. She looks super cute in it, so I let her wear it all the time.
After lunch, Jaron took me for a ride on the four wheeler while he followed Jace and Gregg. It was a little scary riding on the back with Jaron driving. He did good, but some of the turns he did really freaked me out! We got stuck a couple times to the point where I thought we were going to tip over, but luckily we never did.
After we got back from our ride, we all took a ride up to the petroglyphs. We could only ride the four wheelers so far, then we had to hike the rest of the way. They were so cool to see up close...
We explored a little bit by the petroglyphs and then we headed back to the four wheelers to go back to camp. Jaedyn was getting tired of walking, so she hitched a ride back...
...then she got ready to ride...
When we got back to our camp, we hung out a little bit more. The kids all played "capture the flag" for a while and really enjoyed themselves. It was so relaxing being up there and away from the city.
Before it got late, we packed up and headed home. I'm glad we weren't camping by ourselves because the battery in our Tahoe completely died on us. That would have made for a miserable weekend. So, when we got home, unpacked, and showered, we headed to the store to get a new battery. Lucky for us our dead battery had a warranty that still had another two weeks on it before it expired...yay!!
It was nice to finally go on a camping trip as a family. The kids had fun and so did I. Hopefully next summer we'll be able to go camping more often.
