Family Game Night...2014

A couple nights ago the kids and I went to "Family Game Night" at Jantzen's school.  The kids got to play several different games in the cafeteria and the art room.

The boys decided to stay in the cafeteria because it's where the "big kid" games were.  They had a lot of fun...

Jaedyn had more fun playing games in the art room because that's where the "little kid" games were.  She played Candy Land and Chutes & Ladders with Mrs. Powell and her son Jackson.  She stayed in here most of the evening...she was having so much fun!

The last game the boys played was with Mrs. Jones (their GATE teacher)...it was Scattergories. They've never played this game before and it was kind of funny watching them try to figure out words in each category.

Josh showed up when it was almost over...pulling faces, as usual!

Before we left, all the kids got to pick out a new game to take home...(love Jaron's photo bomb!)

Jantzen picked out Scattergories at first, then changed his mind and decided to go with Jenga.  Jaedyn picked Candy Land, Jaron picked Scattergories, and JoseAlfredo took home Monopoly...

It was a fun night for the kids.  They got to go to school, but didn't have to do any work, which they love.  They loved being able to take home a new game and spend time with their family and friends.

Little Creatures!!

Yesterday, as I was coming home for the day, I came across some strange little creatures.  I thought they were really cute and they looked sweet and innocent, so I brought them home with me

Jantzen's Spring Music Program

Today Jantzen performed in his school's spring music program.  His whole grade got to wear frog hats that the art teacher made and they all looked so cute...

Jantzen didn't seem to mind the silly frog hat on his head.  I think he thought it was pretty cool.  He's such a good sport about these kinds of things.

His grade sang a bunch of songs that pertained to swamps and frogs...they were really cute songs and the kids seemed to have fun singing them.

Here's Jantzen and his best friend, JoseAlfredo, being cute little froggies after the program was over...

...they did such a good job!

Here's a couple more pictures of Jantzen, and of us together...

On the way back to Jantzen's classroom, his teacher told them all to hop like frogs the whole way back.  Jantzen was very happy to do this.  He had a lot of fun!

I'm just happy that he didn't trip and fall because his shoes were untied...silly boy!

It was fun watching Jantzen sing in his music program today.  He sang and did all the actions so well, no matter how silly and weird they were.  I love that I'm able to come and watch my kids perform at school and to see the smiles on their faces as they do it.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Since today was a school day and my kids have to be out the door by 7:15 am, I didn't have time to make them their annual "St. Patrick's Day" breakfast.  They were totally ok with that...thank goodness!  I kind of felt bad because I make them a green breakfast every year, but I just didn't want to get up super early this year.

Instead of a green breakfast, I made them a green dinner.  I usually only make a green breakfast, so they were super happy about having a green dinner this time.  I let them help me decide what to make and they ended up choosing green spaghetti, salad, and green juice...

 ...except for Jaedyn.

She's so picky that she decided to have anything but what the rest of us were having...super silly stubborn little girl!  She did eat off of her green Ninja Turtles plate though...

Our traditions may be simple at times, but the kids love them!

Jaron's First Cross Country Meet...

Yesterday Jaron competed in his first ever cross country meet for his school's track team.  He was both nervous and excited at the same time.  He was mainly nervous because he signed up to run the 2 mile race.  Where this was his first time, I told him good luck and not to be mad if he doesn't win.

I got a few pictures of him before the races started...

Here's Jaron with his friend Brett...

...and his coach, Mr. Ferre, who also happens to be his school counselor...

Jaron warmed up and stretched his legs, then lined up to begin his race...

  And he's off!

 photo DSCN8876copy.jpg

After about a mile Jaron was really starting to struggle.  I think he was seriously regretting his decision to make his first big race be the 2 mile one.  Josh decided that he'd go out and run the second mile with Jaron to help keep him going...

Jaron made it across the finish line in 8th place, which I thought was pretty good.  Josh finished after Jaron because he lost one of his shoes and had to go back for it.  That's what happens when you try to run in Vans and not actual running shoes.

Here's Jaron's school track team, four of them placed in the race.  Can you find Jaron hiding amongst all of them??

 photo DSCN8881.jpg

Jaron was so exhausted after that race, I would be too!  I'm so proud of him for finishing it and not giving up.  It also makes me happy that Josh went out to help and support Jaron when he could see that he was struggling a little.

 photo DSCN8882.jpg

I also loved how Jantzen was a good little brother and went out to "help" Jaron relax a little.  Sometimes they can be so nice to each other...

Keep up the hard work Jaron and you'll get better every time!

Field Trip to Albertsons

Today I got to go with Jaedyn and her preschool class on their field trip to Albertsons.  Jaedyn was so excited to go on another field trip!

When we first got there we were greeted by our hosts, they were really nice and were excited to see the kids.

The kids all got a lesson on the "5 To Stay Alive" theme.  It's all about eating healthy and the kids repeated it all day.

Jaedyn thought that was pretty cool, although, she'd never eat it!

After playing a little with the crab leg, the kids went into a little room and there they got to enjoy some more yummy snacks and treats...
