Spring Break Vacation...Day 3

On our third day in California we took the kids to Legoland for their first of two days there. The boys were so excited to go! It's been three years since we last went and Jantzen was the same age as Jaedyn, so he doesn't remember much. Jaron, on the other hand remembered and was filling Jantzen in on what he could remember...a lot has changed since the last time we were here.

Here we all are getting ready to head on in to the wonderful world of Lego's...my boys were in heaven before we even got through the gates...


And one of just the kids. Can you see the excitement on their faces...


One of the first things we saw when we got in was this massive Star Wars sand sculpture, it was pretty impressive!


Here's the Lego elephant that Jaron remembers from our last visit. He told Jantzen all about it, how it shoots water out it's trunk and moves it's head...they thought that was pretty cool.


This was the first ride the boys went on. It was the "Coastersaurus" in the Dino Island area of Legoland. At first Jantzen was hesitant to go on it, but Josh and Jaron talked him into it and he ended up loving it!


Jaedyn was too short to go on the roller coaster with the boys, so we just hung out and waited for them. She was happy just to get out of her stroller and run around...


We then headed to Duplo Village to go on the "Safari Trek". Last time Jantzen was just barely tall enough to go on this ride and it ended up being one of the only one's he could go on, so we went on it a lot! Unfortunately this time, Jaedyn was an inch too short to go on it, that kind of made me upset because all we do is drive around in a Lego car and see Lego safari animals...oh well. Jaedyn hung out with Josh while I went with the boys. We could only fit two people in a car, so Jantzen insisted he go with me.

Here's Jantzen driving along, checking out the monkeys and rhino's. He really did enjoy this ride.


Here's Jaron looking pretty relaxed in his car. Is that his foot I see him steering with? That better not be a sign of how he's going to drive a real car when he's older!


After the safari ride we headed over to the "Fairy Tale Brook" so Jaedyn could have a chance to ride something. There's only a four person limit on each boat, so again, we had to go separately. I went with the boys and Josh went with Jaedyn...





The boys were super excited to see these Lego figures...Hagrid and Harry! It's amazing what can be done with Lego's.



Oh no, a lion is eating my children!


These instruments were pretty cool. If you stepped or jumped on the circles they'd start playing music while spitting out water. Josh had Jaedyn bounce on it with her stroller and she thought that was fun, the boys enjoyed it too. We had a hard time getting Jantzen to leave it, but we made him so we could go on more rides.


Josh and Jaron went on the "Kid Power Towers" in Fun Town, Jantzen refused to go. I think he might have a fear of heights like his mother. It doesn't really look like it, but they do go up pretty high...


Next, Jaron and Jantzen hit up the "Volvo Driving School". There was a lot of crazy driving going on there. Kids were driving on the wrong side of the road, causing traffic jams and that made it so the boys didn't get to drive around very much, but they still had fun. The line was too long, so I didn't let them wait again to do it.


After the boys were done driving the cars we had lunch. We were told that we couldn't bring in our own food, so we didn't. Instead we paid way too much for food that wasn't the best and we saw that other people had brought their own food in, so that's what we're going to do next time.

While we were sitting down to eat lunch, Jaedyn decided it was time to take her nap, so she missed out. Thank goodness we had snuck in some snacks. She looked so comfortable...


After lunch, we did the Lego Factory Tour. It shows how Lego's are made and packaged. The boys thought it was cool to see all that, but I think they liked playing the games in there the best. Plus, at the end of the tour there was a life size Lego robot, they wanted to take it home with them.




We then went to the "Adventurers' Club" where the kids had to search for six different colored keys. They started off their adventure in a jungle...


Along the way they met up with a jailed skeleton...


Then they both managed to get themselves turned into mummy's. I thought it was kind of funny that neither one of them were tall enough to be able to see through the eye holes...


They ran into a little bit of trouble along the way. The ground started to shake and the building was falling apart on them. Luckily they were able to escape unharmed...


Before they reached the end of their adventure, they had to make their way through the freezing cold arctic among the polar bears and wolves...


They did finally make it to the end and they were able to find all the keys they were looking for.

I'm not really sure what Jaedyn thinks about this sailor with his shark...


I wasn't in the mood to get spun around, so Josh took the boys on the "Captain Cranky's Challenge" in Pirate Shores. It's a pirate ship that rocks back and forth, then it starts spinning around. Again, Jantzen wasn't too sure about the ride, but Josh and Jaron were able to talk him into it. If you look closely, you can see that Josh and Jaron have their arms up the whole time having a good time and poor Jantzen is holding on for dear life and looking as though he's going to puke!


Josh had asked Jantzen during the ride if he was liking it and Jantzen's response was, "This is awesome!", even though his face said otherwise. I also asked him how it was after the ride was over and he told he he loved it. He has a funny way of showing he likes something.


Oh great, I saved my kids from the lion's mouth and now the shark has got them!

Jaedyn wasn't too happy about being inside this shark's mouth, which made for a really good picture...


The boys, on the other hand, really hammed it up for me...



One of the last things we did on our first day at Legoland was go to "Miniland USA". The boys were so excited because they had a new Star Wars area that had scenes from all the Star Wars movies. It seriously is amazing what they have done with all these Lego's. The boys now think they need a million (literally) Lego's so they can create their own cities. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.




Look in the bottom right hand corner picture closely and you'll see a small Lego Luke Skywalker hanging upside down...




My boys even got to meet Chewbacca, R2-D2, and Darth Vader. That was a highlight to their day...I don't think Jaedyn really cared.




The last city we saw in "Miniland" was "Las Vegas". Last time we were here it was under construction, so this is the first time we've seen it.


The boys were fascinated by it all, there was so much to look at...





Since Josh and I were there on our anniversary, we couldn't pass up getting a picture of the two of us by the "little White Wedding Chapel"...


Jaron was excited to see the "Taj Mahal". He's been fascinated by it ever since he did a power point on it at school.


On our way out, we came across a tired old man and the boys couldn't resist climbing on him...


I couldn't resist giving him a kiss, he's quite the looker...


Jaedyn found a new friend on the way out, she loves dogs and I think she thought this one was real...at first.



There were a couple more things that the kids played with before we left for the day. They were toys that they had to spin in order to shoot water at certain objects, they had a fun time getting in a little bit more play before we forced them to leave because the park was closing...


I think Jantzen was trying to spray Jaron with water here. Luckily for Jaron it wouldn't turn around that far.



Minus a little bit of drama at lunch, we all seemed to have a fun day. Even though it was mine and Josh's anniversary, we both had a great time spending it with our kids. Seeing them happy makes us happy! We now have one more day to go at Legoland...
