Jaron's 1st Science Fair

Yesterday Jaron had his first science fair at school. It's a requirement for all 4th and 5th graders for part of their science grade. He didn't get much time this year to work on it, so he went with something fairly easy. He decided to do it on, "Can the design of a paper airplane make it fly farther?". He did all the research for different designs of airplanes on the Internet and then made rough drafts of them. After that, Josh helped him make the final airplanes for his project so that they were folded correctly. When they were all done making the airplanes, Jaron threw each one 5 times to get an average distance. Then, after he was all done with his testing, he typed up all of the results and put together his whole board, including his hypothesis, procedure, and conclusion.

Jaron decided to attach his paper airplanes to his board, so he colored the board to make it look like the airplanes were flying in the sky...he even made cotton ball clouds. After getting it all put together, this was the result...



Jaron turned in his science fair project a week before the actual fair and he wasn't expecting anything to happen except he wanted a good grade on it. We got to the science fair about a half hour before it was all over and we looked for Jaron's project among all the others. When we found it, Jaron was so excited...he had gotten 2ND place in his class!


Jaron was so happy the rest of the night and I'm so proud of him for all the work he put into this project, he did so good. He loves science and it's one of his best subjects. Good Job Jaron!!
